Songs for Abir

After Le Serment des Chemins (2020-2023), a song cycle exploring the story of a woman in love, waiting, I wanted to continue this musical journey with the talented singer Abir Derbel and the iconic playwright Leila Toubel. This led to the idea of composing a new cycle of songs inspired by texts specially written by Leila Toubel, setting to music moments of daily life. This project sensitively captures words of the everyday, the passing of time, fleeting joys, and lost happiness.

In these postcards, Leila Toubel’s words once again bring the soul of Tunisian dialect to life, and Abir Derbel becomes the touching echo of this new universe. This time, I aimed to capture a simpler sensitivity—balancing lightness and intensity—through songs that feel both immediate and universally resonant.

These songs, like fragments of suspended life, unite our three voices so that the lost words of these postcards may shine once more…
